Mantra for Positivity:

Ek Ong Kar Sat Gur Prasad

The mind is a tricky place.  It’s easy to get caught up in a cycle of escalating negativity.  The “what-ifs” are a dangerous creature, and when they mate with the “not good enoughs,” it makes for vicious offspring.  It can be very difficult to stop the mind in its tracks.

The more meditation you are doing, the more often you are cleaning out the subconscious, the less and less your negative thoughts spin out of control, but even then the mind might grab onto a negative thought like a dog with a bone and not let go.  There is a powerful mantra that can stop negativity in its tracks and turn your mind onto the positive.

One of the most sacred of all mantras, it should be treated with reverence and respect.  Before chanting it, it is often recommended to chant either the Mul Mantra or the mantra “Aad Guray Nameh, Jugaad Guray Nameh, Sat Guray Nameh, Siri Guru Devay Nameh” to create a sacred space and energy around you before you even touch this mantra.

First taught by Guru Nanak to his son Baba Siri Chand, a powerful yogi, it is said to contain the essence of the entire Siri Guru Granth Sahib (the holy scriptures and living Guru of the Sikhs).  Yogi Bhajan called this mantra “the eyes of Indra”, saying that your body is a temple through which knowledge and bliss flood to you.

This mantra is the only Kundalini mantra that comes with a warning.  This is such a powerful and creative mantra that you must watch your thoughts and actions after you chant it.  You will be in such a state of manifestation, that your thoughts will accelerate into being.  Luckily, the energy within the mantra itself will help you switch your thoughts to the positive.  It takes your own negative thought, stops it in its tracks and reverses it into positivity. A thought rides into your consciousness to be processed with “Ek Ong Kar Sat Gur Prasad,” and comes out pure with, “Sat Gur Prasad Ek Ong Kar.”

(Translation: There is one Creator of all Creation.  All is a blessing of the One Creator.  This realization comes through Guru’s Grace.)

Try it.  Sing it when you are feeling down or your thoughts are spinning out of control.  Chant it to get control over your own negativity.  Feel the blessings, the prasad, of the Infinite within.
